Patio Maintenance FAQ

Can I Seal Pavers Myself?

Homeowners can tackle some projects themselves, but we highly recommend leaving the installation of paver patios, fire pits, outdoor kitchens, and water features to Platinum Patio and Pavers. Every 7 to 10 years, natural stone or pavers usually need resealing, which you can do with a bit of effort. Watching for signs of wear will help you know when it’s time for a reseal.

For those in Hyde Park, Madeira, and greater Cincinnati, we suggest using G2 polymeric sand to fill the joints between pavers. Just spread the sand with a broom, making sure it fills all the gaps. Be careful not to leave any sand on top of the pavers, as it can cause a rough feel and a hazy look.

Can You Pressure Wash Sealed Pavers?

Yes, absolutely! These pavers, driveways, walkways, and almost any patio can be pressure washed safely. If you’re washing a wood deck or siding, keep the washer about 3 to 5 feet away. This gives your pavers a deep clean without damaging them.

You can keep your paver patio looking brand new all year long with power washing once or twice a year.

What Type of Sealer Is Best For Pavers?

In Cincinnati, planning hardscape designs carefully is key. If you’re sealing paver joints with G2 polymeric sand, choose a clear sealer. Tinted sealers can change or stain the pavers’ natural color, so for the best look, we recommend sticking to clear options.

For a natural appearance, power wash your patio once or twice a year and refill the joints with polymeric sand every 7 to 10 years. Sealing the pavers isn’t usually needed, and it can block the joints, which might lead to drainage issues over time.

How Do I Bring My Pavers Back To Life?

Adding new life to your pavers is a great way to boost curb appeal. Professional landscapers usually start by power washing to get rid of dirt, dust, and grime. Before cleaning, patios can look dull or weather-worn, but a good wash brings back the stones’ original color and shine.

After washing, it may also help to refill the joints with polymeric sand to keep everything in top shape, depending on the patio’s design and condition.

How Long Do Pavers Last?

Pavers are a fantastic option for creating patios, retaining walls, and other stone features that enhance outdoor spaces. These resilient materials not only boost your home’s value but also provide a welcoming area for family enjoyment. With proper care, pavers can endure for over 25 years.

Homeowners are encouraged to maintain their patios by power washing them annually and refreshing the joints with polymeric sand every seven to ten years. This approach is how Platinum Patio and Pavers ensures the durability and longevity of its patios for 25 years and beyond.

How To Maintain Your Deck

Composite decking is great for hassle-free outdoor spaces because it’s durable and low maintenance. By taking care of it, you can extend its life and keep your  deck looking good. We make sure your investment is protected with easy maintenance.

Cleaning regularly is key. Get rid of dirt and debris from your deck to prevent mold and discoloration. You can get a deeper clean by using mild soap and warm water with a soft brush, then rinsing thoroughly.
